Most of the dishes on the menu serve four. These can be portioned individually, for two or for four. For those with smaller appetites, the meal could be split into smaller portions. I'm happy to provide any of the items on the menu for larger numbers - please contact me to discuss.

Delicious Pies

 

Choose how you want your home-made pastry for your pie:

•Shortcrust pastry – either on the top and base, or just crisp pastry on the top (less pastry, so this is the healthier version!)

•Rough puff pastry – a richer pastry just on the top of the pie. (no base!)

Both pies can be supplied with the pastry baked or raw (on the pie ready to bake)

Steak and Ale Pie

 

Tender chunks of steak slow cooked with carrots and mushrooms in ale. Finished with your pastry choice.

Gently poached chicken with bacon and leeks in a rich sauce, finished with your pastry choice.

Lasagne

 

A classic lasagne – a rich, slow cooked meat ragu layered with creamy, white béchamel sauce and pasta sheets. Amazing comfort food!

Fisherman's Pie

 

A classic, Friday night favourite! Chunks of white and smoked fish with plenty of prawns in a creamy sauce, topped with fluffy mashed potato.

Chilli con Carne

 

A versatile favourite with family and friends – top with sour cream and salsa and serve with rice, in tortilla wraps, with jacket potatoes, spread over nachos….. The spicing is mild / medium – a slight chilli buzz.

Coq au Vin

 

A whole free-range chicken, cut into joints and slowly braised in red wine with bacon, mushrooms and shallots. A great Staffordshire version of a classic French dish!

Staffordshire Lobby

 

They say everybody’s recipe for lobby is different – this is mine! Tender, slow cooked beef with carrots, celery, swede, onions, potato and thickened (slightly) with pearl barley. It works for me!

Beef and Stout Stew with Carrots

 

Delicious, sweet, slow-cooked melty carrots and beautifully tender meat – this is traditional comfort in a pot!

Braised Peppered Steak in Red Wine

Tomato Pasta Sauce (V)

 

This great tomato sauce has countless uses – on its own as a quick pasta sauce or pizza base; add mushrooms, peppers, aubergine or courgette for a more substantial sauce or add fried mince or bacon for a meaty version.

Bolognaise Ragu

 

A rich, versatile meat sauce: serve it Bolognese style with spaghetti or use it as a base for lasagne or moussaka.

Side Dishes

A few simple side dishes to accompany your main courses. These will all be freshly prepared and are suitable for freezing and reheating in a microwave.

 

Mashed Potato - simply mashed with butter and milk (or vegan spread if requested) - 4 portions £2.50

 

Vegetables - choose either carrots, broccoli or cauliflower. The vegetables will be cooked briefly and chilled so that they can be quickly re-heated in a microwave or frozen. 4 portions £2.50

 

Steamed Rice - fluffy basmati rice. 4 portions £2.00
